About Dr. Michelle Selby
Dr. Selby specializes in CBT and DBT for adolescents, families, and adults. She utilizes a collaborative therapeutic style, incorporating sensitivity, humor, and openness, while tailoring treatment to each client. Dr. Selby aims to create a partnership which emphasizes both acceptance of where the client is in their current life, while also encouraging realistic movement and change.
Dr. Selby earned her doctorate degree in Clinical and School Child Psychology from Pace University in New York City. She has received training in a variety of settings, including high schools and middle schools, inpatient units, partial hospital programs, residential treatment facilities, and community outpatient clinics. Dr. Selby completed her pre-doctoral internship at Trinitas Regional Medical in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she provided evidence-based assessment, treatment, and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She is foundationally trained from Marsha Linehan’s Behavioral Tech, and has experience participating in several comprehensive DBT programs during her training. Prior to founding Bergen County Wellness, Dr. Selby worked at Behavioral Psych Studio in NYC as a senior psychologist and assistant director.
Dr. Selby lives locally with her family and is very integrated in the community. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family and friends. If you see her around town, please don’t hesitate to say hello!
